SNOWPROM ensures safety of Almaty’s Kok-Tobe key ropeway

In December 2025, specialists from SNOWPROM successfully completed a comprehensive load rope replacement on the Kok-Tobe ropeway in Almaty. This iconic urban facility, serving as a vital component of the city’s transport and tourism infrastructure, has undergone scheduled technical upgrades to ensure its long-term and safe operation.

The load rope replacement procedure is a critically important stage in the lifecycle of any aerial ropeway. It is performed in strict accordance with technical regulations upon the expiration of the designated service life, ensuring the system’s uninterrupted operation and absolute passenger safety for decades to come.

Project Specifics and Complexities:

  • Project Scale: the work was carried out on a 1,620-meter line with an elevation differential of 234 meters.
  • High-Altitude Operations: a key technical challenge was the installation of the new rope on high-support towers of 40 and 38 meters, which required specialized preparation and strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Comprehensive Approach: beyond the rope replacement itself, SNOWPROM engineers performed precise adjustments to the drive station equipment, ensuring optimal operational parameters for the entire system.

The successful completion of this project within the stipulated timeframe underscores SNOWPROM’s high operational readiness and expertise in maintaining complex urban infrastructure. The company has once again proven its role as a reliable partner, contributing to the safety and development of the metropolis.
